The Garden of Cosmic Speculation

The Garden of Cosmic Speculation was set up by Charles Jencks, together with his late wife Maggie Keswick and is located at Portrack House near Dumfries.   The garden is based on mathematical ideas and speculation rather than a traditional garden and is not normally open to visitors.  Photos of the garden can be seen on

The garden is open to visitors this Sunday 3rd May from 12.00 until 5.00pm.

To get there, drive down the A76 past Auldgirth and along past the Courthill Caravan Park on the right.  This stretch of road has the entrance to Ellisland Farm further on and then March House Roe Farm on the left and the back road just beyond this farm.  Follow this narrow road past the first gatehouse on the left and turn sharp left at the next three houses.  Please look out for the Squirrels!

 The Open Day – 3rd May 2015

The following photos were taken on a very wet Sunday but that did not deter the many people who attended.   I got the distinct impression the Cosmic Garden is better known across the world than it is in Scotland.   I apologise for the photo quality as it was wet and almost all the photos were taken with one hand with an umbrella in the other.
